Waipahu Insulation handles spray foam, attic, blown-in, and vapor barrier work for homes and businesses across Oahu. We show up on time, explain what we find, and do the job right the first time.

Waipahu Insulation is a locally owned insulation contractor in Waipahu, HI serving homeowners and businesses across Oahu. We offer 16 insulation services - from spray foam and attic blown-in to vapor barriers and commercial projects - so you get the right solution for your specific home and climate. Hawaii has some of the highest electricity rates in the country, and a poorly insulated home makes every dollar you spend on cooling less effective. We serve 12 communities on Oahu and respond to new inquiries within 1 business day.

Tired of your AC never catching up? Spray foam seals gaps and cracks that other insulation simply cannot reach, so your home stays cooler with less effort.

Heat pouring through an under-insulated attic raises every room below it. Attic insulation stops that transfer and cuts the load on your air conditioner.
Learn More
Can you see the ceiling joists through thin, patchy material? Blown-in insulation fills the entire attic floor evenly, covering gaps batts cannot reach.

If your home was built before 1980, it likely has far less insulation than current standards require. A whole-home assessment finds where you are losing the most.

Old, wet, or moldy insulation stops working and can cause bigger problems. We remove it safely before installing new material so you start with a clean slate.
Learn More
Moisture and pests enter through an uninsulated crawl space and work their way up. Crawl space insulation cuts that pathway and improves comfort in the rooms above.
Learn More
Walls that let outside heat in make every room harder to cool. Wall insulation creates a barrier between Hawaii's outdoor temperatures and your living space.
Learn More
Even great insulation underperforms when air leaks around outlets, fixtures, and framing. Air sealing plugs those gaps so your insulation actually does its job.
Learn More
Damp, cold air from below a slab or foundation pulls into your home and raises your cooling costs. Basement insulation puts a stop to that energy drain.
Learn More
The densest foam type available, closed-cell foam resists moisture and delivers high R-value per inch - a strong fit for Waipahu's humid, heat-intensive climate.
Learn More
Lighter and less expensive than closed-cell, open-cell foam excels at blocking sound and works well in interior walls where moisture is less of a concern.
Learn More
Warehouses, retail spaces, and office buildings lose just as much energy as homes through poor insulation. We size commercial solutions to your building's actual needs.
Learn More
An unsealed crawl space lets Hawaii's humidity rise straight into your subfloor. A vapor barrier blocks moisture at the source before it can cause damage.
Learn More
Moisture that gets past your insulation causes rot and mold over time. A properly installed vapor barrier keeps that moisture from entering your wall and floor assemblies.

Your attic is the biggest source of air leaks in most homes. Sealing gaps around fixtures, pipes, and framing before adding insulation dramatically improves the result.
Learn More
Older Waipahu homes were built without modern insulation standards. Retrofit insulation adds coverage without requiring a full renovation - minimal disruption, real results.
Learn MoreReach out by phone or through the contact form. Tell us what you are noticing - high electric bills, hot rooms, an older home that has never had insulation work - and we will ask a few basic questions to understand your situation. We respond to every new inquiry within 1 business day, usually much faster.
We come to your home, walk through the attic, crawl space, or areas you are concerned about, and look at what is already there. We note where the gaps are, check for moisture or old material that needs to come out, and explain everything we find in plain terms. No pressure, no sales pitch - just an honest read on what your home needs.
After you approve the written estimate, we schedule the work and show up on time with all the equipment needed. We complete the job to the agreed scope, show you the finished work before we leave, and provide documentation you can keep. Most jobs are done in a single day with minimal disruption to your household.
We carry a current Hawaii contractor license issued by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, plus full liability and workers compensation insurance on every project. You can verify our license at hawaii.gov/dcca before we start.
Every estimate includes a physical visit to your home. We look at the actual conditions before quoting - attic depth, existing material, moisture, and access. The estimate is written and itemized. There is no cost and no commitment to have us come out.
We are not a mainland franchise that flew someone in. We live and work on Oahu, we understand how Hawaii's climate and older housing stock affect insulation decisions, and we have been serving this community since 2017.
If you find thin spots, missed areas, or anything that does not look right after we finish, call us and we return at no charge. We photograph completed work so there is no ambiguity about what was done and where.

"Our upstairs bedroom was basically unusable in the afternoon - it was so much hotter than the rest of the house. After the attic insulation job, the temperature is actually even throughout. The whole job was done in one day and the crew cleaned up behind themselves."
Marcus T., Pearl City - Attic Insulation
"We have an older plantation-style home in Waipahu and were nervous about what a contractor would find up in the attic. They walked us through everything they saw before starting, explained exactly why they recommended blown-in over batts, and showed us photos when the job was done. First HECO bill after was noticeably lower."
Leilani R., Waipahu - Blown-In Insulation
"Used them for spray foam on the crawl space under our house in Aiea. The quote was clear and itemized, they showed up on the scheduled day, and the musty smell we had been dealing with for two years was gone within a week. Wish we had done it sooner."
David N., Aiea - Spray Foam Insulation

Insulation works here - just in a different direction. On the mainland it keeps heat inside during winter. In Waipahu, it keeps heat outside during our long, hot summers. Your attic can reach intense temperatures on a sunny afternoon, and without adequate insulation that heat pushes straight into your living space and forces your AC to run constantly.
Closed-cell foam is denser and resists moisture - both important in Waipahu's year-round humidity. Open-cell foam absorbs moisture more readily, which can create problems in exterior walls or attic spaces. For most Waipahu homes, the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance recommends closed-cell for hot, humid climates. Your contractor should explain their recommendation before any work begins.
Trade winds blow from the northeast for much of the year. That means the windward-facing side of your home is where outside air most often pushes through gaps around outlets, windows, and framing. A good contractor pays extra attention to those northeast-facing areas during the assessment and air sealing work.
Right now, if it has never been done. Many plantation-era homes in Waipahu were built with little or no attic insulation because air conditioning was not common then. Decades of settling have also opened gaps around pipes and framing. If your home is over 40 years old and has never had an insulation inspection, there is a good chance you are losing money through your ceiling every month.
Yes. Hawaii Energy offers rebates for qualifying insulation upgrades in existing homes on Oahu. The rebates are tied to specific performance requirements and the work must be done by a participating contractor. Ask any contractor you are considering whether they participate before you commit - it is the difference between qualifying for a rebate and not.
Properly installed insulation - especially closed-cell spray foam - acts as a moisture barrier that keeps humid outside air from entering your wall cavities. Without it, warm moist air condenses inside your walls and creates the conditions for mold. Attic ventilation is equally important: a good contractor assesses airflow alongside insulation because the two work together in Hawaii's humid environment.
Waipahu Insulation is a licensed and insured insulation contractor based in Waipahu, HI, serving 12 communities across Oahu since 2017. Since 2017, we have completed insulation projects across all 16 service types we offer, in homes ranging from plantation-era structures to newer construction throughout central and west Oahu. Whether you need a quick attic assessment or a full spray foam installation, we bring the same standard of work to every job. Learn more about us.
If existing insulation is wet, compressed, or shows signs of mold, adding new material on top traps the problem. A contractor should check before recommending a top-up. The EPA indoor air quality guidance recommends addressing moisture sources before replacing insulation.
Hawaii falls into a warm climate zone, so the recommended R-value for attic insulation is lower than cold-climate states - typically around R-30 to R-38 for attics. Your contractor should measure what you currently have and explain how much more is needed for your specific home before recommending a product.
You get far less benefit from the insulation. Outside air continues to push through gaps around fixtures, pipes, and framing, carrying heat and moisture with it. Air sealing first is not an upsell - it is the step that makes insulation actually perform the way it should in a leaky older home.
Have questions about your specific home? The best next step is a free in-person assessment. Call (808) 444-0629 or send us a message and we will schedule a visit at no cost.
Waipahu is a community of roughly 38,000 people on the central Oahu plain, about 16 miles west of downtown Honolulu. The area grew up around the Oahu Sugar Company, and many of the homes nearest to where the old mill stood along Waipahu Street date to the plantation era of the early and mid-20th century. You can learn about that history at the Hawaii Plantation Village, one of the most recognized cultural sites in the neighborhood. Many of those older homes were built with minimal insulation by today's standards, and they are some of the homes that benefit most from the work we do.
The broader Waipahu area includes a range of housing from plantation-era cottages to postwar concrete block homes to newer townhome developments near Waikele Premium Outlets. The community is close-knit and diverse - Waipahu has one of the highest concentrations of Filipino residents of any community in Hawaii, alongside large Japanese, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander populations. Many families have lived in the same home for two or three generations, and that long-term ownership is part of why keeping homes well-maintained matters so much here. Waipahu High School, which has served the community since 1950, is a reference point most residents know, and homes near the school represent a cross-section of the housing stock we work on most often.
Waipahu sits on the drier, leeward side of Oahu, which means intense afternoon sun and heat without as much of the cooling trade-wind relief that windward communities enjoy. That climate makes proper insulation more valuable here than in many other parts of the island. For Oahu weather conditions that affect service timing, the National Weather Service in Honolulu is the source we rely on. We have worked on homes throughout Waipahu, from the older streets closest to town all the way out to the newer developments near Waikele, and we bring the same care and attention to every job regardless of where in the neighborhood you live.
